NEW Information- Steps to Protect your Identity- and NOW your children - FREE
Freeze your credit for free!- from the FTC Consumer Information website- “Also known as a security freeze, this free tool lets you restrict access to your credit report, which in turn makes it more difficult for identity thieves to open new accounts in your name. That’s because most creditors need to see your credit report before they approve a new account. If they can’t see your report, they may not extend the credit.”
Credit freezes are a more complete way to protect your credit information. If you are using or considering a “service” read the fine print carefully. As far as I know a credit freeze (which is now no cost) is the only way to totally shut down access to your credit information. Ironically, all of the credit bureaus are offering “services” at monthly costs. Do your own research, but a credit freeze is no cost and effective.
